The Holocaust Explained

Service Pack: Core Service

Subject: Art History

The first ever student-focused Holocaust education resource.

LGfL has been working in partnership with the London Jewish Cultural Centre to produce a resource of outstanding quality and cultural and historical significance. The 'Holocaust Explained' resource is the first ever student-focused Holocaust education resource. The website features a vast range of media resources, historical documents and graphical representations of a wide range of aspects of the Holocaust.

The project was launched on 25th January 2011 at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office by the Rt Hon Michael Gove.

Following creation of the hugely successful www.theholocaustexplained.org for Key Stage 3 resource, the site was updated in November 2012 to provide resources for Key Stage 4.

The enlarged site has over 500 web pages, 1000 media assets, a glossary of 720 terms and 11 oral testimonies.

The new Key Stage 4 component contains everything that students need to study the Holocaust to examination level in school and at home. The site uses British-English spelling and syntax and has been developed with the same attention to accuracy and detail that has made the Key Stage 3 component so successful.

A companion resource has been produced by LGfL and the Ben Uri Art gallery called Holocaust Education through the Ben Uri Art Collection.

Access to Learning Resources both in and away from school site is freely available with a TRUSTnet Core Service subscription.
